Curriculum
Whole School Planning Considerations
- At Central State School all teachers develop their curriculum programs consistent with an outcomes approach. We plan integrated units around our key learning areas of:
-
- Science
- Technology
- Studies of Society and Environment
- Health and Pysical Education
- The Arts.
The units are designed to provide meaningful links across key learning areas and provide opportunities for students to demonstrate selected core learning outcomes from these areas, taking into account the needs, interests and abilities of the students.
When we plan these programs we ensure that the valued attributes of a lifelong learner are promoted, throughout the unit, and by the assessment task. These attributes are listed below.
- A knowledgeable person with a deep understanding
- A complex thinker
- A creative person
- An active investigator
- An effective communicator
- A participant in an interdependent world
- A reflective and self directed learner
Teachers plan key learning area-specific units for Mathematics and English to be taught concurrently with the integrated units to provide students with adequate learning opportunities for these subjects.
